Since we ditched cable, we’ve been hostage to the Netflix streaming selection. It’s not the best selection, but it’s great quality, so here’s a half-ass cheers to them.

I love classic movies. Short on violence, heavy on style and script. But the only reasons to watch “How to Steal a Million” are 1. the Jaguar E-type, 2. young Peter O’Toole, and 3. Audrey Hepburn’s Givenchy wardrobe. Well, and her hair, makeup, and general lovableness. Her style is enviable; however, it’s not the 1960′s, I’m not the daughter of a millionaire artist crackpot, and somehow, I’m not in Paris. But we can pretend with accessories.

Nowadays, it’s hard to get a booth at the Applebees in a designer lace eyemask. But frame bags, oversize sunnies, classic skinny belts and mid-heels are some of the easier things to pull off. Deeper cuts include driving gloves and structured cloches.

3 Thoughts.

  1. ~sigh~ I love classic movies so much! I haven’t yet seen this one but I’m adding it to my list ASAP! I absolutely adore this kind of style, and while I’m not a wisp of a thing like Audrey, I think it can still be pulled off of a more hourglass figure like mine (skinny belts, hello!?). Those shades are simply fabulous!!

    • I think several of those structured dresses work wonders on an hourglass figure. I only wish I could look as good in kitten heels as that woman. And I loved the hair: I’m hopeless with styling my hair!
