Someone requested that I write on the subject of the long dress “fad.” This person hates maxi dresses. Admittedly, I embraced the maxi dress just recently. I bought two this season, and at neither time did I think of them as a fad. They’ve grown on me, and I think they’re going to become part of the day dress canon. Like skinny jeans are to denim styles.
The maxi dress started showing up in my neck of the woods about four or five years ago. You could get them at Target – the Mecca of trends on the cheap before they become trends. I had one but reserved it for the beach, the pool, or Bo Time: some environment where bystanders would not be confused as to whether or not you were wearing a nightgown. If you were, it’d be ok.
