To update you on this previous post:

1. Clark’s Wallabee Boot
This boot is adorable. In reality, it is every bit as Elaine Robinson as I had imagined. It runs quite large. This normally is  not an issue; however one of my feet is larger than the other, and this shoe could not accommodate both comfortably. Had I sized down again (I already had based on reviews), my pituitary giant foot would have been squished. The toe box is tapered but square which left a lot of dead space atop the toes of the smaller foot, and I could only imagine the injury resulting from all the tripping I’d do.  If you have even feet and toes and want some old school style, try these. They offer no arch support. The comfort is in the wonderfully gummy bear-like sole. Great. Now I’m hungry.

2. Clark’s Desert Boot
This old man boot was too stiff and uncomfortable for me.  I felt like having a sandwich on top of a skyscraper.

4. Naya shoes
They cut into my big toes.  Comfy enough for a semi-active desk job but not for standing all day. Love that they have eco-friendly materials and methods. Very cute and the bordeaux color is lovely – I almost talked myself into them.

5. Clark’s clogs
I wear these almost every day. I’m surprised at how versatile they are. They look like normal boots/shoes under long trousers, and they add some edge to skinny jeans. I can scuff them up and it only seems to add to the character, plus they give me the height I desire.  They are a no go with skirts which is a drawback. I was so not excited about these, but they have saved my feet recently. Solid purchase!

I did not try the others; however, I noticed the Nefertiti shearling boots were on sale a few days ago at the DSW.

Cheers!

As a former banker, I always wore heels.  Three inches was normal. I believed that I could run marathons in them. Little did I realize how well-rested I was at my bankerly desk. After a week at a new retail job, the truth reveals itself. I indeed could not run a marathon in high heels much less stand at a jewelry display case for more than twenty minutes in them. My feet have been KILLING me after the day is done. I even switched to some Born mary janes which have left me aching. So, I’m on a quest for cuteness and comfort.

I have ranked each pair above by my best guess at comfort. The Clark’s Wallabees look like foamy wonder soles. And I think they look really cool: like something Elaine Robinson would have worn on campus in anticipation of escaping from Ben. Because while there’s a sense of huzzah at the end of the movie, he was really pretty creepy.

I’ve purchased three of the shoes above and am waiting for them to arrive in the mail: Numbers, 2, 4, and 5.  I got great deals on all of them which drove my decisions. The Wallabee’s look so beatnik cool, but the fact that no one wore them in the video on Zappos kind of scared me into thinking they are, in fact, not as cool as I think.  And the sweat factor of crocs makes me hesitant. If you’ve found the perfect solution to the cute/comfort issues, please share with me your knowledge in the comments. Reviews to come! Happy Black Friday!
