Freshly rested this October monday from a whirlwind fashion show at my wee boutique last week. It was a success that I was jolly glad to get over with, and now I miss all the suspense. Cursed I am by attachment.
But this morning, I have doggie in my lap, coffee in my mug, and toffee in my tummy. All is right, and the Internet opens up to me like a giant oyster. I reviewed my fall wish lists and realize that I’m really missing something: color! Crafting 36 looks on models that are relatively the same size from a small consignment shop is a challenge, and I realized that a pop of color and/or sparkle really brought most everything together. Why am I not following these same rules?
Now, I layer on the challenge of finding the right pieces in the right colors. Below are some of fall’s hues that I crave and complimenting colors to add to the list:
- Oxblood – it’s dark, it’s everywhere, it’s almost a neutral.
Complimenting colors: vibrant aqua and/or pale blue. - Ochre – always a wonderful fall color, but it needs some updating and while peeps tend to go with another earth tone, I want to keep it crisp.
Complimenting colors: Cobalt or bright fuchsia - Leopard – I realize this is not a color. To be honest, I may get sick of this by the time I get around to buying anything in it. So. Skip. But.
Complimenting colors just in case: Chartreuse and bright jade or deep teal - Purple – I think if I just keep the tone rich, I’m all good. I’d love to add a champagne brocade and navy to a pale purple though.
Wish me luck!
-M
